Leadership Team

Kev Gladwell

I am the Church & Community Pastor at Parkview Chapel. I have been at Parkview since March 2009, originally as our Youth & Families Worker, however as time has moved on my role has changed somewhat.

I became a Christian at Sizewell Hall in 1990. I have been involved in both Church based youth work and also the work of Sizewell Hall pretty much ever since.

I am married to Sam and we have 2 beautiful girls, Hannah and Ellie.

I have 2 other main interests. The first being sport, especially football, and extra especially the best Football team in the land, Liverpool F.C. The second interest being the Eurovision Song Contest, the highlight of anyone’s year surely?

Within Parkview Chapel my role is as treasurer and also playing the keyboard, in both cases along with my wife of 43 years, Helen.

After over 30 years farming with 2 of my brothers, in 2007 I left that behind and took up bookkeeping, initially mainly for farming clients but as the years have passed a bigger proportion is for church and charity clients in a voluntary capacity.

Helen and I have 3 grown up children and 4 grandchildren, all of whom we love spending time with. The great outdoors is where I love to be when not behind a desk, either gardening (I have an allotment) or walking.

I have been a Christian from the age of 16, but it’s fair to say I only became serious about my faith when I met my wife to be at university. Amanda and I have been married since 1991 and have shared many ups and downs in our journey as we have been surrounded by great friends, sound Christian teaching and discipleship.

Together with our 2 boys, we followed God’s leading and went on the mission field to Zambia for 11 years. Seeing people in that culture changes your perspective on what’s important in life. It gives one a fresh outlook on the need for everyone to know and love God and our Lord Jesus and to listen to the Holy Spirit as he guides us through the issues of life.

As a younger person, I played all kinds of sport; now I’m happy meandering along the golf course but strangely enjoy running around the village streets, when it’s not too cold! Zambian weather gave me a liking for gardening, which I have tried to bring back to the UK, but it’s much harder to grow things successfully here.

I like to describe myself as a Jack of all trades, master of none!

I’ve been married to Andrew for over 30 years. We met at teacher training college and were wed the summer we finished. We found Parkview while looking for a Bible based church with Jesus given a central focus. I taught in a primary school and middle school in Suffolk and then we felt a call to help with a newly built Christian school in Zambia. We initially planned to be out there for 2 years but stayed nearly 11!

We have 2 grown up sons; Samuel is a newly qualified teacher, and Joseph is training to be an accountant. I love teaching and since returning to the UK in 2019, have been working as an S.E.N teaching assistant in a nearby Primary school.

Being born just outside Norwich, and having a Dad, Grandad and Brother interested in football, I naturally became a Norwich City supporter and the years living away from home increased my allegiance. I enjoy crazy golf, as it’s the only sport I stand any chance of winning!

When I first came to Parkview Chapel, I felt so at home that I stayed.

I have only been a Christian for a few years, so I am on a steep learning curve about everything Biblical, so steep I am now on the Leadership Team. I’ve worked as a Mental Health Social Worker for over 20 years and am now a Cognitive Analytical Therapist in the NHS. I am married and have 2 children in High School. We have 2 dogs and 2 guinea pigs, so I spend a lot of time walking, washing, feeding and cleaning up after the animals (including the children!)

I am a director at Yaxley and Mellis Preschool and a School Governor for Mellis Primary. There is a lot of overlap between these roles, my career and my work at Parkview.
